About the Role
">This is a temporary assignment, often lasting weeks or months, to address staffing shortages in hospitals and other healthcare facilities with emergency departments.
">Responsibilities
">The physician will provide prompt and comprehensive medical care to patients experiencing a wide range of emergencies and acute illnesses in the emergency department.
">They will conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. They will diagnose and stabilize patients with life-threatening conditions, develop and implement treatment plans for various acute medical and surgical emergencies, and perform emergency procedures such as suturing, wound care and splinting, as needed.
">They will also order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, CT scans) to guide treatment decisions, prescribe medications and manage pain effectively, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
">The physician will document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the medical record and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
">Requirements
">The candidate must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school and be board certified in emergency, internal or family medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), the American Board of Family Medicine or the AOA.
">Active and unrestricted medical license in Florida is required. At least one year of experience working in an emergency department setting is preferred.
