Senior Engineer - Laser Reliability
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving reliability initiatives, conducting failure analysis, and implementing strategies to enhance the reliability of our semiconductor lasers and products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Reliability Engineering:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving reliability initiatives, conducting failure analysis, and implementing strategies to enhance the reliability of our semiconductor lasers and products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Reliability Engineering:
- Develop and execute reliability test plans, including accelerated life testing (ALT), highly accelerated life testing (HALT), and environmental stress screening (ESS).
- Analyze reliability data to identify failure modes, mechanisms, and root causes.
- Utilize statistical analysis techniques to assess product reliability and predict field performance.
- Collaborate with design and process engineering teams to implement design and process changes to improve product reliability.
Failure Analysis:
- Conduct detailed failure analysis investigations, including physical failure analysis (PFA) and electrical failure analysis (EFA).
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques such as confocal scanning acoustic microscopy (CSAM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), focused ion beam (FIB), electroluminescence (EL), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to identify failure mechanisms.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of failures.
Reliability Improvement:
- Identify and implement reliability improvement strategies, such as design for reliability (DFR) and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Conduct reliability risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the reliability of purchased components.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze reliability data to generate comprehensive reports and presentations.
- Utilize python, database (eg SQL), and statistical software to perform data analysis and modeling.
- Communicate complex technical information to a wide range of audiences, including engineering, management, and customers.
Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in semiconductor laser and/or product reliability engineering.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, failure mechanisms, and reliability testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis techniques, including Weibull analysis, accelerated life modeling, and reliability prediction.
- Experience with failure analysis techniques, such as SEM, EDX, CSAM, TEM, EL, and FIB.
- Experience with reliability tools and software, such as JMP, Minitab, or ReliaSoft.
- Knowledge of industry standards and specifications, such as Telcordia (e.g. GR-468), JEDEC, MIL-STD, and AEC-Q.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience with semiconductor lasers and laser products
- Experience with advanced reliability techniques, such as physics-of-failure modeling and accelerated degradation modeling.
- Knowledge of reliability modeling tools, such as JMP, Reliasoft or Ansys.
- Experience with reliability certification and qualification processes.
Pay Range is $150K to $192K
