Sr. Engineer - Optoelectronics Test
Job Location: on-site in San Jose
As a Sr. Engineer in the Test Hardware group, you will drive the development and maturity of the Test Equipment required to deliver Ayar Labs’ next generation SuperNova and TeraPHY products. Responsibilities include interfacing with Product Development Engineers, Design Engineers, and Validation Engineers to create test software and equipment that deliver trustworthy data to our partners and customers. You will be joining a small team in a dynamic startup environment, where each member is able and expected to take on a wide range of responsibilities, and to learn and grow with the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define, develop, implement, and support Test hardware solutions for Photonics products based on Test Program content, Product Development needs, and Validation requirements
- Determine Tester configuration, including developing Module Technical Specs, and meet with vendors to customize advanced tester modules
- Identify gaps in test coverage, design, and flow. Implement new tests to improve coverage
- Optimize test flows and processes to enable volume manufacturing
- Work with vendors to design and source probe cards, load boards, control boards, and other key collaterals
- Test and validate product yield compliance with margin to specification across critical functional areas of the products
- Review technical specifications and interfaces for conformity to design guidelines and functionality
- Perform statistical analysis to demonstrate stability and capability of Test modules and data
- Interpret test data and create reports based on the results
- Work with Ayar Labs Data Engineering to ensure that test results flow smoothly into internal database
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
- 2 years of experience in industry testing and characterizing optoelectronic systems and components such as semiconductor lasers, transceivers, waveguides and EDFA's.
- 2 years of experience industry using OSA's, MZM's, DCA's, BER testers, SMU's and polarizers
- Must have knowledge of CMOS hardware and hands-on experience with bench equipment such as Oscilloscope, VI meter, Signal generator and analyzers
- Must be able to program in Python
- Experience performing statistical analysis
- Needs understanding of semiconductor physics, optics, fiber optics and/or laser physics
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
- Understanding of DFT insertion techniques including Scan, ATPG, and LBIST
- Ability to read and understand firmware code
- Experience working in Windows and Linux environments
- Experience with software version control, including Git tracking
- Ability to analyze problems and apply corrective actions
Annual salary range: $150,000 - $192,000
