We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team. The COTA will work under the supervision of the Director of Therapy to provide high-quality care to patients. This role is essential in helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and improve their daily living activities (ADLs).
Duties
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans as directed by the Director of Therapy.
- Provide direct patient care, ensuring safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans and exercises to enhance recovery.
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with medical standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop effective care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to inform treatment approaches.
- Support patients in performing daily living activities (ADLs) to promote independence and quality of life.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in occupational therapy.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of occupational health practices and principles related to patient care.
- Experience in a skilled nursing setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to occupational therapy.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documenting patient progress.
