Lead Caregiver

Summary:

The Lead Caregiver plays a crucial role in managing and supporting caregiving staff to ensure the highest level of care and service for residents. Your primary responsibility will be to guide your team in performing their duties safely and effectively, fostering an environment of teamwork with all relevant standards. You will support the Residential Care Coordinators, Director of Nursing, and Executive Director in the smooth operation of the workplace, ensuring that care plans are developed and followed to meet individual needs, while maintaining a positive and supportive work atmosphere. You will be the caregivers’ first line of support when assistance or direction is needed. In addition, you will lead team meetings, conduct supervisions, ensure reporting is completed, and serve as a positive role model to colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Always providing high quality services and safety to residents.
• Provide guidance and support to staff, ensuring they can perform their duties effectively and safely.
• Lead by example in adhering to facility policies, regulations, and standards of care.
• Takes lead in handling all emergency situations, performing duties as a first responder and coordinating emergency care as deemed necessary and appropriate.
• Acts as Manager Designee when the Health Service Director and ED are not physically present.
• Oversees the facility cell phone at all times by having it on hand or designating a caregiver to carry and answer it.
• Medication Reminders/Assistance: Remind clients of medication schedules and assist with managing medications, if needed. Oversee medication administration is completed adhering to the “5 Rights”.
• Demonstrate professionalism and set an example for colleagues in work ethic, behavior, and attitude.
• Performing all other duties as assigned per management.

Qualifications:   

• Current CPR and First Aid certificates
• Current TB screenings and assessment
• Current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Current food handlers card 
• Current Caregiver Certification per NCIA board requirements
• Clear a criminal background, credit check, and motor vehicle screening
• Clear the Department of Economic Security, Department of Aging and Adult Services Central Registry Background Checks
• Reliable transportation to fulfill assignments with punctuality
• Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate in English at the 8^th grade level
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and document services provided
• Must be genuinely concerned and committed to helping residents and have high moral standards of honesty and integrity
