AZCFC is a proven leader in the delivery of evidence-based specialty behavioral health services. We are seeking a qualified and dedicated medical biller to join our amazing administrative team. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment. As a medical biller who specializes in behavioral health billing, your daily duties will include maintaining billing software, appealing denied claims, and recording late payments. To succeed in this role, you must possess in-depth knowledge of billing software and behavioral health insurance policies. The ideal candidate must also be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as communicating with clients, staff, and various health plans will form a large part of the job.
Billing Specialist Specific Duties:
- Ensure the client’s information is accurate and up to date for clean claim submission.
- Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due.
- Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Examine client claims and bills for accuracy and request any missing information. Investigate and appeal and resolve denied claims.
- Scrub claims data for accuracy.
- Help clients develop patient payment plans as needed.
- Maintain billing software by updating rate changes, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.
- Must have current knowledge of AHCCCS Behavioral Health and CMS rules and regulations.
- Prepare non-medical billing other payors, i.e DCS.
- Run daily billing and edit reports to ensure all timely filing guidelines are met.
- Post manual and/or electronic EOB's and Remittance Advices and reconcile.
- Assist with providing documentation and spreadsheets or other reports.
- Copy and file or scan billing related documents.
- Assist the clinical staff with billing issues, training, coding and authorizations.
- Perform various collection actions including contacting clients by phone and email.
- Verify insurance benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year prior experience in a medical records and/or billing department or like setting preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health setting is preferred.
- Billing certification preferred.
- Proficient in reading and understanding Remittance Advice/EOBs
- Must have strong computer software experience. Must be knowledgeable of converting document file types into one exportable file.
- Experience with electronic health record systems.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Strong, clear communication skills.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Must be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance through the Department of Public Safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and strength sufficient enough to enter information via computer keyboard for long periods of time, to write notes and information needed, and to pick up and hold paperwork, supplies and other items.
- Eyesight sufficient to effectively read documents and to accurately view information on a computer monitor.
- Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to effectively communicate.
- Eye/hand coordination, hearing and visual acuity necessary for day to day tasks.
Salary : $49,000 - $53,000
