Pay ranges from $12.00 - $13.75 based on years of experience.
Daily Responsibilities
- Help clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and hygiene.
- Be prepared for the messy side of caregiving – accidents happen.
Mobility Support
- Transfer clients in and out of beds, wheelchairs, or vehicles.
- Handle heavy lifting and assist clients who may resist or struggle.
Meal Preparation and Feeding
- Cook meals that meet dietary restrictions, even if the requests seem unusual.
- Feed clients who may struggle to eat independently or have unique challenges.
Household Tasks
- Clean and sanitize living spaces, from cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, vacuuming and mopping floors and doing laundry.
- Tackle clutter, odors, and sometimes unpleasant environments.
Medication Reminders
- Ensure clients take the proper medication at the right time – no room for errors.
- Stay calm and resourceful if clients refuse or struggle with meds.
Companionship
- Listen to the same stories on repeat, respond with empathy, and provide emotional support.
- Engage with clients who may be nonverbal, angry, or lonely.
Observation and Reporting
- Spot changes in health, behavior, or environment that might seem minor but could save lives.
- Document everything – even the smallest details.
Errands and Transportation
- Pick up groceries, prescriptions, or supplies.
- Help clients navigate transportation via non-emergency transportation with patience and adaptability.
Crisis Management
- Handle emergencies like falls, sudden illness, or behavioral outbursts with grace under pressure.
- Be ready to act quickly and decisively when the unexpected happens.
Unpredictable Extras
- Handle requests that may seem unrelated to caregiving, such as fixing things, finding lost items, or being a shoulder to cry on.
- Adapt to ever-changing needs, schedules, and situations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a caregiver is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and care plans is beneficial.
- Ability to perform housekeeping duties and provide support with ADL's.
- Familiarity with client rights and the ability to advocate for clients' needs.
- Basic cooking skills to prepare meals that meet nutritional guidelines.
- Ability to lift patients safely, adhering to best practices for physical support.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
- A compassionate attitude towards caregiving with a commitment to enhancing the lives of others.

Pay: $12.00 - $13.50 per hour
