What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Industrial Painter position at Azco Inc?
Bring your industrial painting experience to our team! We are seeking an experienced painter to take the lead on painting the various industrial metal structures we fabricate in our shop and then ship to various construction projects and industrial facilities around the country. Our fabrication shop is growing, and this is an outstanding opportunity to bring your coatings expertise to shape our painting operations while at the same time building new skills working alongside Journeyman sheet metal workers.
Essential Duties
- Prepare metal surfaces prior to painting. This may include media blasting or other mechanical methods to prepare material for painting and applying masking tape or coverings to cover areas not being coated.
- Select and mix coating liquids in compliance with client requirements and industry safety standards. Clean tools, work area, and properly store or dispose of remaining paint.
- Employ industry techniques to select appropriate nozzles, tools, and procedures to evenly spray coats to meet specifications.
- Use engineering controls and PPE to ensure safety for yourself and your co-workers before, during, and after application of coatings.
- Organize and maintain inventory of paints, coatings, and associated tools and equipment. Partner with the Shop Manager to purchase supplies and tools as required to efficiently meet client demands.
- Assist sheet metal journeymen to construct fabrications when needed. Includes use of burn table, press brakes, shears and grinders.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of industrial painting experience required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Mathematical competency and strong reading comprehension.
- Strong work ethic and attendance record. Must be self-motivated to stay on task.
- Ability to effectively communicate and partner with co-workers.
Work Environment
Work will be performed in a shop environment. Team members will need to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in a variety conditions throughout the day. Ability to work with small parts, hand tools, and interpret written and verbal instructions is required. Position requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
