What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Manager position at AZEK Company?
Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:
- Proactively implements all safety, risk management & security programs and initiatives through partnerships with all department managers and production employees.
- Ensures all facilities are compliant with OSHA and EPA standards and regulatory requirements.
- Continually monitors work environment and intervenes when unsafe practices or behaviors are observed.
- Conducts investigations involving near misses, incidents and accidents and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Analyzes positions to identify any risks associated with the job’s tasks and properly documents findings.
- Leads the plant safety committees and in doing so, coordinates meetings, agenda, and action items/ideas follow-through.
- Implements facility safety audits; responsible for all safety reporting/recordkeeping.
- Develops and facilitates safety training.
- Interacts and establishes safe work practices with contractors.
- Serves as point person for any/all correspondence and interaction with OSHA, EPA, and City.
- Works closely with TPA, MCO, BWC, and outside counsel, in managing workers’ compensation claims.
- Ensure applicable environmental reports are completed for each facility.
- Maintains and manages environmental compliance, permits, and inspections, which includes, but is not limited to storm water, wastewater, air quality, hazardous waste, residual waste, etc.
- Coordinates with outside training and compliance vendors
- Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management.
We believe the successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Hygiene Management, Environmental Management, or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of experience in a similar position.
- Prefer CSP, CIH or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of training principles and techniques.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA, EPA and other regulatory requirements.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Precise and articulate written and oral communication; ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate individual and group presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate upwardly to top management and downward to a wide range of audiences.
- Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Work schedule flexibility, often without advance notice, to accommodate the needs of the business.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, demonstrate repetitive motion and/or manual dexterity, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. The employee must individually lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., occasionally, and 100 lbs. with assistance, infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Success Measures:
- Thirty (30) days:
- Understand and manage the applicable ESH programs and procedures.
- Understand and manage the PPE program.
- Actively participates in the required meetings.
- Actively participates in Incident Investigations and well versed on myCority.
- Understand the processes at the facility.
- Sixty (60) days:
- Perform all required Environmental testing and report submission.
- Understand and manage the ESH Management system.
- Lead ESH Gemba Walks or similar
- Presents in Town Halls
- Manage the BBSO program
- Ninety (90) days:
- Work with other site ESH Team Members in the AZEK.
- Complete timely audits and verify that the facility stays in compliance.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The annual salary for this position ranges from $120,000 in our lowest market up to $130,000 in our highest market, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. The pay for roles at AZEK varies depending on a wide range of factors including but not limited to the specific work location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
