Position Summary
AZEK is seeking a results-driven Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations at our new extrusion facility in Boise, ID. This role is accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) targets through effective team leadership, lean systems deployment, and production planning.
The Production Manager will lead and mentor frontline supervisors and hourly production employees, driving a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
Performance Objectives – What Success Looks Like
First 30 Days: Observe, Learn & Build Trust
In the first month, the focus is on understanding AZEK’s production environment, people, and processes. The Production Manager should be highly visible on the floor, building relationships with frontline teams and supervisors, learning the flow of materials and information, and becoming familiar with equipment, systems, and safety protocols. Establishing a foundation of trust and credibility is key, as is beginning to identify strengths, gaps, and immediate areas of opportunity. Significant focus should be placed on building relationships with upstream and downstream internal customers and suppliers. Key exploration within the first 30 days will be to determine the measures and metrics that will drive excellence in how internal customers and suppliers affect and/or react to the outputs of the manufacturing process, as well as gain a firm understanding of the measures and metrics that drive excellence within the Production Department.
By 90 Days: Take Ownership & Stabilize Operations
With a solid understanding of the plant and its people, the Production Manager is expected to begin driving day-to-day accountability and operational discipline. This includes leading daily production meetings, refining shift transitions, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and addressing recurring production issues. Collaboration with cross-functional teams becomes more strategic, ensuring alignment between production, maintenance, planning, and quality. You’ll begin to introduce and sustain lean practices such as 6S, visual management, standard work, and lean manufacturing methodologies. By this time, a successful candidate will have led the creation and/or modification of several process enhancements that efficiently and effectively improve the business as a whole.
By 6–12 Months: Improve Performance & Elevate the Team
Within the first year, the Production Manager will be expected to show clear progress in operational performance, team engagement, and process consistency. This includes leading measurable improvements in efficiency, waste reduction, and team productivity. You’ll continue developing your supervisors and operators through coaching, skill development, and cross-training. As a key culture carrier, you’ll help embed continuous improvement into daily operations and foster a work environment grounded in accountability, collaboration, and respect. It is the expectation that all improvements enter a run-state that has been sustained over time and provide insight and visibility into future enhancements.
