This is an exciting opportunity to join Azelis, North America’s leading specialty chemical distributor serving multiple markets including; CASE, Construction, Care, Lubricants, Agriculture and Pharma. You will be able to develop your talents and join a team of dedicated professionals. We operate in the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers (CASE), Construction and Textiles spaces with state-of-the-art laboratories in Covington, GA and Oak Creek, WI. This position is located on-site in Covington, GA.
This position reports to the site Lab Director and works closely with our national sales team and the principals we represent to meet the needs of our customers. The candidate will strive to identify and solve issues related to the performance of existing customer products, but also innovate and develop new customer products.
The successful candidate will receive in-depth training on Azelis product lines and will develop or improve upon CASE, Construction, and Textile formulations to support our customers and principals. Candidates should be comfortable handling multiple responsibilities in a team environment. This is a hands-on laboratory bench position requiring clear technical thinking, consistent focus on safety, good communication skills, and enthusiastic collaboration. Duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Develop, prepare, test, and report on CASE, Construction, and Textile type products.
- Independently perform standard (ASTM) and modified lab test procedures for various compounds and formulations. Collaborate in the development of new test procedures.
- Always use established safety procedures and practice good housekeeping techniques. Contribute to their continuous improvement. Where a new or existing safety procedure has gaps in written form, proactively identify such gaps and work with others to improve documentation before proceeding with lab work.
- Record, interpret, and report results of lab work in verbal and written form. Collaborate with supervisor, colleagues, customers, and principals in planning follow-up work.
- Maintain lab equipment in good working order and proper calibration with guidance from your supervisor, manufacturer, and others.
- Maintain supplies as needed. Keep Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and other files current.
- Intermittently lift, push, pull and move packages and objects weighing up to 55 lb such as pails of chemicals. Occasionally handle objects weighing up to 95 lb such as bags of cementitious materials, with assistance if needed.
- Travel to customers, principals, training sessions, and conferences 10-20%.
- Participate and help develop training materials for sales personnel and new lab personnel.
