Azenta Life Sciences is seeking a Buyer to join our growing and dynamic organization. Reporting to the Procurement Manager for the Multiomics and Synthesis Solutions business known as GENEWIZ, this position will provide support to the Global Multiomics organization. The buyer will work closely with the line of business leaders, finance and other counterparts to provide timely and actionable information regarding purchasing materials, supplies and equipment. In this strategic role, the buyer will manage and track spend for the business and perform associated day to day tasks.
This critical position within the Multiomics procurement team holds key responsibilities including monitoring of purchase orders, management of inventory levels, negotiation, weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reporting of spend, and assisting the Procurement Manager in achieving overall procurement goals.

What You’ll Do…
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain an orderly system to track direct materials for the business
- Manage vendor data base and support vendor setup process in Netsuite
- Ensure management of target inventory levels
- Support and participate in price negotiations with vendors
- Drive to PPV savings and cost savings targets
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of materials to sites
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, communicate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks
- Drive initiatives and continuous process improvement to help the team to become more efficient and effective
- Generates internal management reports for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reporting of spend
- Annual planning processes with respect to development of direct materials spend targets
- Leading data, process and reporting improvement initiatives
- Partnering with business leaders to address pain points and challenges
- Broad spectrum of negotiation discussions
- Continuous improvement to the Multiomics procurement process
- This position requires 2 years of relevant experience (purchasing demand /production planning within a manufacturing environment)
- Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, APICS certification (CPIM) preferred
- Requires the ability to operate with a sense of urgency, prioritize assignments and be self-directed
- Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement teams and activities
- Expert capability in modern sourcing principles
- Strong preference for a candidate with knowledge of Netsuite based planning system
- Strong preference for a candidate with experience in Life Science Services industry
- Ability to analyze cost effectiveness and make sound commercial / business decisions
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities for multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Hybrid - South Plainfield, NJ (aligned to company policy 4 days in office)
- Occasional travel may be required (not expected to be more than 5%)
