Azenta Life Sciences is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join our growing and dynamic organization. Reporting to the Divisional CFO for the Multiomics and Synthesis Solutions business known as GENEWIZ, this position will provide support to the Global Multiomics organization.
This role will lead the global Multiomics Procurement team and focus on developing, leading and executing on purchasing strategies, working across a portfolio of commodities and sites. This role will also manage a global team of buyers. A strong background within Purchasing with a proven track record in cost reduction, negotiation and supplier management is required; a proactive approach to problem solving as well as having the ability to convert strategy into action is required.

What You’ll Do…
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading and developing a team of Buyers across a multi-site operation
- Development and delivery of supplier management strategies
- Ownership of the Purchasing strategy and budget process as well as all Purchasing process documentation
- Management of the supplier portfolio and execution on consolidation of supply to drive price benefits as well as proposing alternative supply
- Operate across all functions to deliver business strategy on margin and quality
- Lead negotiations with all key suppliers on price and terms
- Responsible for the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process with key suppliers
- Represent Supply Chain for New Product Introduction and Existing Product Development projects
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, communicate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks
- Problem solving demand issues
- Track, report on manage departmental metrics
- Generate and present internal management reports for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual tracking
- Drive Business Process Improvements / Continuous Improvement activities to achieve productivity, efficiency and KPIs, and improve employee engagement. Participate and lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement sessions
- Responsible for all people management aspects of team members including recruitment, onboarding, training & development, and performance management.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, APICS certification (CPIM) preferred
- Minimum 5 years of purchasing within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years management experience
- A strong background within Purchasing with a proven track record in cost reduction, negotiation and supplier management is required; a proactive approach to problem solving as well as having the ability to convert strategy into action is required.
- Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement teams and activities
- Expert capability in modern sourcing principles
- Ability to analyze cost effectiveness and make sound commercial / business decisions and recommendations
- Strong preference for a candidate with knowledge of Netsuite based planning system
- Strong preference for a candidate with experience in Life Science Services industry
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- This position will be on-site in South Plainfield, NJ 4 days a week. Remote on Friday
- Occasional travel may be required (not expected to be more than 10%) including to APAC region
