Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role as a Sales Engineer at AZO, Inc., located in Memphis, TN, with flexibility for some remote work. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for developing skills and knowledge related to the sales process. You will work closely with our sales managers and application engineers to understand and promote our products and solutions to prospective customers. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to start a career in technical sales while developing the skills and abilities required.
Duties will include customer relationship development and management, prospecting, developing sales pipeline, lead nurturing and qualification, conceptual design generation, coordination of proposal development with Application Engineering, and closing orders to win business with new and existing customers.
The sales engineer will also be an essential resource for training entry-level engineers in the technical development program. The sales engineer will report to the Sales Manager or the Director of Sales and Marketing.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and has technical aptitude and the ability to grasp complex concepts. The ideal candidate should have the following skills:
· Basic understanding of the sales process, including pipeline management, prospecting activities, and qualification process for new and existing customers.
· Strong technical aptitude and basic knowledge of AZO equipment and systems.
· Be able to read and interpret AutoCAD mechanical drawings, including elevation and layout drawings, and develop process flow diagrams using unique AZO symbols.
· Basic understanding of system sizing calculations, recipe, and ingredient analysis.
· Strong communication skills and presentation skills, externally and internally.
This position is responsible for the following tasks and requirements:
· Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and market changes to identify potential sales opportunities.
· Engage with customers and prospects to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
· Identify appropriate qualification metrics for new prospects and develop a sales pipeline for project inquiries.
· Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) to log sales activities, manage customer accounts, contacts, and projects.
· Develop a deep understanding of AZO equipment, technologies, and solutions, including features, benefits, and advantages.
· Provide technical support during sales interactions, including product demonstrations and presentations.
· Assist in creating technical documents to include system conceptual designs, process flow diagrams, recipe analysis charts, and system sizing calculations for potential projects.
· Educate customers and prospects on product use and best practices to ensure their success.
· Forge and nurture strong relationships with prospects and customers, serving as a point of contact for their inquiries and concerns.
· Work closely with project engineering teams to convey customer feedback and requirements for future projects.
Required Education and Experience
· Minimum BS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent program or training
· Completion of the AZO technical development program is preferred.
· Completion of technical sales training is preferred.
· Understanding of AZO standard design methods and practices.
