Job Summary:
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating various CNC machines, ensuring parts meet quality specifications, and maintaining efficient and safe machine operation. You will perform tasks such as tool changes, part inspections using a variety of measurement tools, and maintaining equipment according to standard procedures. This position reports directly to the Production Leader and contributes to achieving the team’s production and quality goals. This position will work second shift with standard working hours of 5:00am-3:00pm Monday – Thursday.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operate various CNC machines by running part programs.
- Change tools and maintain machine operation with minimal assistance.
- Inspect part dimensions using traditional inspection tools and advanced equipment (CMMs, surface measuring tools, and optical inspection systems).
- Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings and part prints.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by adhering to all procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals and meet quality standards.
- Monitor and maintain machine fluid levels to ensure optimal performance; notify maintenance, area leads, or management of any required machine maintenance beyond basic care.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, and ensure all equipment is maintained according to scheduled maintenance plans and established procedures.
- Change chip barrels/tubs when full or when material changes occur between jobs. Properly label and identify waste materials and machined chips.
- Accurately record time punches and job completion details.
- Maintain accurate records of completed quantities and scrap on traveler forms, in-progress documentation, and JobBOSS system. All entries must match.
- Complete operations within estimated production times.
- Proficiently perform all tasks outlined in the skills matrix for the assigned production cell.
- Produce parts and assemblies according to established quality specifications.
- Complete all secondary operations in alignment with Aztalan’s workmanship standards.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment; treat colleagues, leadership, and customers with respect.
- Actively support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and regulations.

- Proficient in using computerized control systems and pre-programmed software.
- Strong foundational math skills.
