Quoting Process Engineer

SUMMARY

• Serve as the primary estimator for the sales department on all technical aspects
• Initial capability/print review, and review any potential concerns with Sales/Engineering/Quality department
• Develop processes and time estimates for all machining, cleaning and assembly operations
• Provide engineering with a general project layout that was used for quoting, work holding and/or manufacturing process for all new part launches
• Determine material size and work holding to optimize new processes
• Primary technical contact with customers and suppliers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Primary focus on all technical aspects of the quotation process for new parts
• Develop cycle times for sales staff
• Develop initial routings, work holding, custom tooling ideas for new projects
• Enter information into Job Boss and keep notes/quotes/print mark ups in part folders
• Hold a print/part review with customer prior to PO acceptance, insure full understanding of the customer requirements for the project/part
• Prepare & email quote to customer
• Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS, include but not limited to:

• Quote turn-around time of 48 hours for standard quotes
• Quote accuracy of /- 10% measured against actual setup and run time
• A “near” complete process to be handed off to engineering department

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Collaborates with ME/Programming department, no direct supervisory responsibilities
• This position reports directly to the Sales and Business Development Leader

• Must have proficient planning, organizational and time management skills

• Must have experience with engineering drawings and reading prints
• Must have knowledge of machine tooling
• Must have knowledge of machining practices
• Must have knowledge of GD&T

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR LICENSES

• Associate Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or related field, preferred
• Must have valid Driver’s License
• 5 years of machine shop experience or manufacturing environment, required
• 2 years of estimating machined parts experience, preferred

• The work is performed in our office and plant facilities.  At times, the employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts. The noise level is occasionally loud.
