The Business Loan Officer supports a sales and service culture by acting on business lending and deposit leads and referrals across multiple channels and providing exceptional member experiences resulting in closed business.
The Business Loan Officer offers a broad variety of financial services such as taking loan applications, closing loans, opening deposit products and services, and connect members to community resources that can provide needed education and advice for members to expand their business potential. Additionally, the Business Loan Officer analyzes the member’s financial picture and makes recommendations involving complex situations. Asking for the business, closing the sale and / or utilizing referrals to Credit Union experts outside the Business Loan Officer area of expertise are other key aspects to successfully building a full financial relationship with our business members.
- Responsibilities
- Effectively combines product knowledge and member information to provide appropriate products or services that helps members manage their financial lives. The Business Loan Officer continually focuses on identifying needs, educating the member on product benefits, exceeding service expectations, asking for the business and closing the sale.
- Assembles loan and account applications and has sufficient knowledge to make informed recommendations for complex situations. Possesses the expertise to help members re-align their entire financial picture and makes recommendations that may involve more complex solutions outside of normal parameters.
- Builds and manages a portfolio of business relationships and drives production and business product sales through treasury management, internal referrals, and business development activities with current and prospective business members.
- Is well-versed in the origination and underwriting of member business loans.
- Assures Credit Union’s rights and interests are protected thru proper documentation and lien perfection. Provides all necessary supporting documents for member files. Closes loans, delivers products, and reviews terms and conditions with members.
- Qualifications
- Three to five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
- Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or equivalent knowledge attained through on the job experience.
- Strong communication and relationship skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
