What are the responsibilities and job description for the American Sign Language (ASL) High School Teacher position at Azusa Unified?
The high school classroom teacher teaches classes appropriate to his / her academic background in Grades 9-12, and shares in the responsibilites of the total education program.
A. Teaches courses in his / her areas in compliance with Board of Education approved course description.
B. Makes use of instructional techniques and available materials for the subject, student interest, and maturity level.
C. Instructs in general elements of the course of study common to all teachers (e.g., citizenship), as specified in state law and school district regulations.
D. Plans, develops, implements, and (when necessary) revises daily program for classroom instruction.
E. Prepares and administers tests, evaluates pupil progress, and submits reports thereof.
F. Provides individual and small-group instructionwhere needed.
G. Instructs pupils in the use, care, and maintenance of equipment and materials.
H. Works cooperatively with all staff members to establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for activities inside and outside the classroom that will provide and preserve a safe and healthy school enviornment.
I. Encourages independent and original thought.
J. Instructs students in emergency procedures and supervises drills.
Requirements / Qualifications
To be considered for this position the following documents are required : Copy of Single Subject Foreign Language : American Sign Language Credential, CBEST Card, and English Language Learners Authorization.
A letter of intent, resume and, 3 letters of recommendation or more are recommended - Also, if you are a current certificated employee you should include your most recent evaluation.

Medical insurance plans are available on the Azusa Unified School District website in the staff section. Employees working a 90 % assignment are required to take at least single coverage health insurance with the Azusa Unified School District or provide proof of coverage through another group plan.
