MMEMBER POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Education Teacher – Starting Point Program

ACTIVITY LOCATION: This position would primarily be in-person at the B.A.B.E.S Inc.’s office.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and implement age-appropriate activities, aligning with Early Childhood Education
- Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development and physical health
- Prepare materials and play area for activities for the day
- Input all activities and information of each child’s day into database
- Attend to basic needs of children - diapering, feeding, napping, etc…
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding the child’s needs and progress, as well as their daily activities
- Maintain and practice confidentiality, ethical, and professional standards
- In-house classroom support for both Respite Care and Starting Point – connection and interaction with children.
- Starting Point: Prep following the starting point curriculum; activity set-up; lead Starting Point activities/curriculum to children; communicate with parents about activities
- Respite Care: Activity prep for the participating children (such as table manners, positive interactions, healthy relationships, etc.), meal service (serving the food, safety, handwashing, etc.); communicate with parents about activities, etc.
- Attend and participate in Be Well Fox Valley AmeriCorps Program trainings on a variety of topics, including program orientation all-member team training and networking opportunities, Public Health AmeriCorps CDC Train virtual training series, community service projects, etc. These trainings occur through a combination virtual and in-person.
- Complete AmeriCorps paperwork, such as monthly reports, feedback surveys, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Be 18 years or older at the beginning of their service
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Must be willing to register with the State of Wisconsin Registry (https://www.the-registry.org)
- Ability to pass an AmeriCorps Background check, a State of Wisconsin Criminal and Child Care Background Check
Preferred:
- Some clerical experience - work processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- Some experience managing and coordinating projects and/or teams
- Certified in CPR
- Knowledge in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC)
OTHER INFORMATION:
- Member Term of Service: The Member’s service term will start on 3/3/2025 and end on 8/31/2025.There’s flexibility with the position start date, however the position must start within the time period of 3/3/2025 and 3/24/2025.
- Time Requirements: The member is expected to serve 450 hours, which averages 18-22 hours/week during the service term period.
- This position will be primarily in-person at the B.A.B.E.S office location.
- Members will receive a gross living allowance while serving, which is paid on the 15th and last day of each month. The gross living allowance amount will be $507.35 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions). Please note, there will not be an additional hourly wage or salary.
- Segal Education Award upon successful completion of hourly requirement described in Time Requirements: The Education Award amount for this position is $1,956.35. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.).
- Forbearance on qualified student loans while serving and interest accrual payments.
