What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counter Sales position at B & B Supply Stores (Franklin Location)?
General Summary:
Respond to customer needs, demonstrate product(s), and close the sale(s). Provide customers with a shopping atmosphere that is well maintained, clean, organized and safe. Answer telephone inquiries, provide general housekeeping and maintain store displays.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide service to contractors, professional builders and walk-in customers.
- Provide quality Customer Service by responding to Customer requests, explaining merchandise features, demonstrating merchandise and making sales. Provide displays, brochures and other point of sale information as needed to assist the Customer to make buying decisions
- Monitor inventory, sales practices and Customer behavior to decrease opportunity for breaches of safety and security policies.
- Accept returned merchandise by verifying documents and merchandise. Process refunds, credits and exchanges according to Company procedures to assure customer satisfaction and accurate accounting of inventory. Coordinate with receiving/warehouse to restock returned merchandise.
- Maintain a clean store environment including doors, floors, windows, ceilings, restrooms and work stations. Clean and dust products and displays and face the products. Ensure aisles and other areas are clear of obstacles to allow customers to shop easily and safely.
- Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required
- Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Good interpersonal, communication, sales and Customer Service skills are necessary. Knowledge of building materials products is desirable. Ability to operate computer equipment and applicable programs is required.
Education, Certificates and Licensures:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
