Summary
Estimators are the tip of the spear here at B&D. Their primary focus is set on accurately forecasting the cost, size, and duration of a project with expertise in reading, math, and strategic planning. The Estimator develops the cost information that is needed to make informed decisions on the viability of a proposed new project. The Estimator provides market competitive estimates that align with organizational goals and objectives.
As a Junior Estimator, you are able to demonstrate you possess the basic skills to manage specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above-average attention to details and strong commitment to completing tasks on time. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detailed and specialized work is the major focus. The position will generally be task-oriented and requires someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the management of all plan and specification estimating activities in a way that maximizes the total profitability of the entire company
Meet the strategic and operational goals in the department through collaboration with the Leadership Team
Supply data and information to other departments to maximize effectiveness
Accurately review plans, specifications, scopes and determine usage of correct vendor and subcontractors required
Independently create material and quote requests to utilize in project estimate
Practice effective bid leveling by reviewing subcontractor and vendor selection with the Leadership Team as needed to ensure scope coverage for estimates
Assist in the pricing and presentation of change proposals
Utilize relationships with preconstruction staff and decision-makers of current and prospective customers (owners and general contractors)
Consult with Leadership Team during beginning stage of individual assignments to identify the strategies and processes that will be utilized
Utilize efficient communication methods to communicate with the Leadership Team during the bidding phase to ensure timely completion of estimates
Update changes to material and labor factors during bid reviews
Communicate with appropriate management regarding potential unknown variables in an efficient manner
Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pushing / pulling, and walking
This role requires advanced computer proficiency, critical thinking abilities, and the proven ability to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines

Education and Experience
Associate's degree in Business or Construction
Minimum of 6 months experience as an Entry-Level Estimator in a project work environment
Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree or Entry-Level Estimator experience
