The Procurement Manager leads in the development and execution of procurement strategies. This person plays a key role in managing supply partners, supply, cost, and risk for food ingredients, spices, and commodities that support the B&G Foods Co-pack network. A successful Procurement Manager will build and manage a strong and dynamic portfolio and will play a critical role in the company’s ability to deliver safe, quality, and cost effective products.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, manage, and execute supply contracts.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories that incorporates food safety, customer requirements, product requirements, market conditions, business risk, and supplier capabilities.
- Vendor relationship management-meeting with vendors in office as well as at their facilities to build strategic relationships that will benefit B&G Foods.
- Identify secondary co-packers to mitigate risk from single sourced products
- Manage and forecast costs, purchase price variance, and inventory.
- Monitor and improve supplier performance.
- Assist the Product Development team with the sourcing of new products.
- Collect, evaluate, and report crop conditions, commodity movement, market information, and logistical trends that would affect the copacker network
- Collaborate and communicate with management and cross-functional teams to understand/align on business objectives, risk management, costing, and pricing actions.
- Support sales and marketing with data to implement costing actions.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor on assigned categories.
- Participate in developing annual budgets for assigned categories.
Skills, Experience, Education:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business-related discipline (i.e. business, economics, finance, accounting, supply chain) required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in procurement with a solid foundation in commodity, contract manufacturing, supplier, and risk management required.
- Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with an ERP system. Systems proficiency with JD Edwards is desired.
