What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator/Project Manager position at B&J Excavating Inc.?
B&J Excavating Inc is seeking a motivated self-starter to join their estimating department as an estimator. We are a site construction company headquartered in Downingtown, PA. We perform all facets of site development for commercial, industrial and residential projects. Projects range in size from $200K to $20 Mill.
About the position: Selected candidate will be responsible for procuring work to bid. Bidding projects Negotiating contracts and change orders with owners/clients. Project management of projects awarded. Coordinating with accounting department on invoicing from subcontractors and vendors. Issuing and/or reviewing subcontracts and PO’s. Coordinating with field personnel on awarded projects.
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 5 years estimating experience
- Good organizational skills (looking for someone extremely detail oriented)
- Good communication skills in dealing with clients and co-workers
- Have a client portfolio they can bring to table for obtaining projects to bid
- Contacts/relationship with local engineering companies for soliciting projects
- Ability to find projects to bid on.
- Experience with project management and cost control after the bid has been won
- Proficient at reading plans and specs
- Ability to read and understand contract documents
- Computer literate with a good to excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs & Bid2Win Software
- Experience with AGTEK earthwork take-off software
- Prior “hands-on” field experience a plus
- Be willing to work required hours to meet project deadlines

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
