Our Commercial Construction Estimating Specialist plays a crucial role when it comes to the preconstruction services, we offer for both negotiated and bid projects within our core markets (healthcare, commercial, industrial, and multi-family). Your day is spent fostering good relationships with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors as you play an active role in projects from start to finish. You prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade-specific scopes of work, and comprehensive bid packages. Additionally, you qualify supplier/subcontractor bid proposals and negotiate subcontracts. To obtain bids, you manage drawing distribution to prospective suppliers/subcontractors.
In addition to keeping open lines of communication, you are a presence during each stage of the project, from preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates, to quantity take-offs and cost estimates your attention for detail results in projects flowing seamless and customers' expectations being exceeded! You review project plans, requirements, drawings, and specifications allowing you to construct accurate estimates, and act as a liaison between our company and customers. Effective follow up with customers to answer questions, address needs, and/or concerns helps keep customers happy and projects running efficiently and on time. REQUIREMENTS FOR A COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING SPECIALIST
- 3 or more years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator
- Bachelor's degree preferably in engineering, construction management, architecture, or another applicable experience
- Prior experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation
- Competent knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Estimating software (Sage/Timberline or similar), Project Management software (Procore or similar), and Scheduling software (Project or similar)
