Underground Construction Laborer
Underground Construction Laborer will assist the rest of the crew with digging trenches, burying cables, placing cable in trenches, potholing, ensuring the vehicles and other heavy assets are cleaned, backfill holes and trenches and assist the Foreman and Drill Operator with various job specific needs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions
- Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
- Work performed near power lines and electricity
Requirements:
- Communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner
- Handle various tasks simultaneously, make decisions, work efficiently and effectively under deadlines
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to travel within the state of Wisconsin
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License to mobilize and operate equipment is preferred
- Understand terminology and knowledge of required tools
- Accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
- Safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment
- Differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires and wire to make cable connections
- Operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position
- Use hand tools in the manner for which they were intended including electric drills, hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers
- Work while standing 75 to 90% of the time
