Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. This full-time, in-person role will be responsible for processing employee payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and addressing payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems and a commitment to confidentiality, while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and maintain accurate payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of paychecks.
- Verify and ensure correct calculation of employee wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and taxes.
- Maintain up-to-date records of employee leave (sick, vacation, etc.), benefits, and compensation adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to management, including but not limited to tax filings, wage garnishments, and benefits deductions.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, inquiries, and issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with HR and other departments to maintain employee payroll information and ensure accuracy.
- Administer benefits deductions and garnishments as required by law or company policy.
- Assist with year-end payroll processing, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
- Ensure payroll systems and processes are updated regularly to maintain compliance with changes in laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll procedures, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
