Purpose:
The Cashier will be responsible for a variety of duties that will include but are not limited to accepting guests payments and accurately counting and recording assigned funds, distribute correct change, and making exchanges of funds throughout the shift; giving correct change, and answering guest and associate questions in a timely, courteous & professional manner; verifying and documenting personal identification information for check and cash advance transactions.
Essential Functions:
- Inform customers of specials and promotions; Properly record sales through the scanning system; operate cashiering equipment accurately and efficiently recognizing all forms of tender and providing the correct change when appropriate.
- Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed at all time.
- Communicate with guests and provide excellent customer service during each transaction.
- Frequently operate small office equipment such as cash register calculator; copier/printer;
- Complete shift/daily reconciliation of receipts, cash, and charges; Accurately account for all funds within cashier drawer.
- Maintain cash logs and complete transactions in compliance with all State and Federal laws.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in and around the cashiers booth. Answers telephone in a prompt and courteous manner, when required.
- Listen to and appropriately escalate customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
- Stock front end products; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
- Put up discarded or returned merchandise; Return carts to shopping cart.
- Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of cashier experience is a must.
