The Painter maintains and repairs painted, wall covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structure, furniture and equipment throughout the facility in order to project a neat and well maintained appearance.
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below or though the exercise of sound, reasonable judgment and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities.
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.
Summary of essential job functions
. Prepare and paint surfaces of building structure, furniture, and equipment using proper application techniques, various products and visual ability to identify colors and patterns, measure lengths and quantities and asses areas for repair
. Plaster or speckle surfaces
. Mix paint colors to match existing colors and apply paint to all buildings and equipment surfaces with brushes, rollers, and spray guns
. Climb ladders, scaffolds, or use a lift to reach heights up to 30 feet
. Work in confined spaces and awkward positions, requiring crouching, kneeling, stooping, and reaching overhead for extended periods of time
. Install and repair covered wall and ceiling surfaces throughout the facility
. Hang vinyl, paper, fabric, and foil wall covering of various weights
. Prepare and maintain wood surfaces requiring staining, varnishing and lacquering
Educational/Experience Requirements
. High school diploma or equivalent
. Training or experience of at least 3 years that provides the required knowledge, skill sand abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position
. Experience in simulating material finishes using paint, such as marble and wood
Abilities Required
. Grasp hand tools and lift, push and/or pull items up to 100 lbs. is required, wheeled assisted
