In this new position as an Interior Designer, you would be supporting a combination of our 5 store locations which include: Beach Haven, Barnegat Light Ocean City, Stone Harbor and Manasquan, NJ.
Position
Primarily working from our Beach Haven, NJ store design center location, utilizing your background in interior design, this role will be responsible for sourcing and selecting indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, rugs, bedding, wall art, wallpaper, paint and accessories for our design clients. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well in a team environment with demonstrated experience in space planning, residential interior design, client management and design software.
General Accountabilities
- Meet with design clients and prepare follow-up proposals and presentations
- Develop space planning concepts and mood boards for design clients
- Assist with selection of furniture, wallpaper, paint, floor covering, lighting, bedding & home accessories for design clients
- Coordinate the availability and delivery timing of merchandise and products with vendors
- Manage the schedules of design projects and client installations with an in-house delivery and installation team
- Manage client expectations and foster open communication and clear budget requirements
- Travel to client sites, store locations and warehouse facilities as needed; must be comfortable working in a retail showroom environment
- Track design project work and billing using a project-tracking application
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to accommodate client appointments or special retail events
- Working with vendors and product reps
Job Qualifications
- 5 years of residential interior design experience
- Experience using AutoCAD, or other floor plan rendering skills
- Work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced, project-to-project environment
- Ability to communicate articulately along with excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with high-end clients
- Highly organized and strong project and time management skills
- Enjoy working in a professional team environment with the ability to collaborate with all project stakeholders
- Must be willing to travel to retail and client locations within NJ
Skills
- Knowledge of interior design principles and practices; excellence in design skills
- Knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers commonly used in residential interior design work
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to convey concepts and ideas clearly
- Excellent organizational skills
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously on a daily basis
- Project Management for small to full-scope projects
- Previous retail sales experience in a furniture or home decor environment is a plus
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes base pay with commission potential.
