The Environmental Services Tech will operate under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, and at times will take instruction from other managers, and floor supervisors on site. The Environmental Services Tech is responsible for the safety and cleanliness of our facility and is required to understand the proper handling and disposal of biohazard waste through the compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state regulations, and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual guidelines and any other applicable regulatory standards. This position is exposed to hazardous materials and a variety of infectious diseases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (the following list is intended to be a guideline. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned):
- Perform cleaning of public areas, donor beds, and ancillary areas, to ensure a clean, safe and attractive environment for staff, donors, and visitors
- Cleans and disinfects assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
- Uses cleaning chemicals properly
- Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious/biohazard waste and trash throughout the facility
- Maintains cleanliness of the biohazardous waste room
- Maintains work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety
- Uses supplies appropriately and effectively
- Restock supplies in all donor areas
- Assist with unstocking supplies, distribute deliveries, and breakdown cardboard throughout the facility
- Communicate issues to center management, and/or other necessary parties
- Assists in shipment of product from the center
- Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facilities for training or assisting other center's staffing needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school degree or GED required.
- Housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Common sense and good judgment.

- Able to learn new procedures and techniques quickly.
- Able to work effectively and efficiently.
- Able to work both independently or in a team environment.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents.
- Hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices.
- Work confidently while being observed during frequent quality inspections.
- Work in walk in - Subzero freezer(s)
- Ability to lift, pull, tug up to 50 pounds to stock supplies and/or move to support donors.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers, to handle & feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job, including close vision.
- Required to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb and balance; stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Physical ability to operate equipment used that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves.
