Description

Position Overview:

As an Aerial Laborer for B Robinson Inc, you play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecommunications infrastructure. Working alongside a team, you will assist in tasks such as utility pole installation, cable placement, and equipment setup. Your physical ability, comfort with heights, and attention to detail will contribute to the safe and efficient execution of aerial construction activities.

This is an Hourly Non-Exempt position that reports to the Aerial Foreman.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Responsible for turning in deliverables and production reports on a daily basis.
  • Must set up and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Punctuality; Arrive at work on time every day limiting unexcused absences.
  • Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and organizing work area, truck, equipment, tools and office location.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and customers.
  • Time management skills are crucial to ensure efficient use of working hours.
  • Timely completion of required documentation
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Manage time appropriately throughout the day, from clock in to clock out.
  • Turning in fuel slips and truck/equipment walkthroughs weekly fully completed
  • Maintain a clean workspace and clean shop/yard space.
  • Fuel up at the end of shift all trucks and equipment. For those traveling under 50 miles in a day, every other day fuel up.
  • Possess the physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, working in various weather conditions, and performing manual labor.

Key Responsibilities and Expectation: Below is an outline of the skills required for all Aerial Laborer positions.

  • Consistently meet all customer requirements for workmanship quality, project completion timeliness, and project documentation.
  • Establish and maintain an effective and positive relationship with customers and team members at all times.
  • Present a positive and professional image for the company in all dealings with customers, vendors, employees, and the community. Maintains a professional appearance appropriate for the position and environment.
  • Protect the assets of the company and make prudent decisions to mitigate any and all risks that threaten the assets; this includes but is not limited to the security of all company equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials both at all job sites and at the company’s office/warehouse.
  • Adhere to company and Area rules, policies, and procedures for all assigned customer projects.
  • Responsible for the quality of your work and personal conduct, assuring that all company workmanship standards and customer specifications and requirements have been met.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and rules established for the company, required by OSHA regulations, and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Participate in safety training programs and adhere to safety procedures at all times.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial telecommunications infrastructure, such as utility poles, cables, and associated equipment.
  • Assist in the placement and securing of cables, hardware, and equipment on utility poles.
  • Assist in the installation of aerial fiber optic and copper cables, including lashing and tensioning.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines during aerial construction operations.
  • Assist crew members, including technicians and supervisors, in various construction activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals and objectives.
  • Follow instructions and guidance from supervisors and experienced personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Report progress, challenges, and concerns to project leaders.
  • Collaborate with other construction crews and personnel as needed.
  • Utilize appropriate tools, equipment and PPE for construction tasks.
  • Responsible for assuring that all necessary and required paperwork and documentation is properly, correctly, and promptly submitted both for internal company recordkeeping and for documentation required by customers. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Daily reports of work accomplished by job.
  • Employee time sheets by job.
  • Receipts for all field purchases.
  • Fuel purchase receipts.
  • Project documentation such as before, during and after photos.
  • Responsible for use and care of the company’s vehicles and all pieces of company construction equipment assigned. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Assuring that all vehicles and pieces of equipment receive appropriate preventative maintenance at the required intervals.
  • Assuring that all vehicles and equipment are visually inspected on a weekly basis for any damage and/or deficiencies. Reporting any possible issues to the leadership team
  • Assuring tools and test equipment are properly maintained and safely stored.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently. Maintain and organize tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials as required.
  • Responsible for being available 24/7 during scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and availability, as needed, to accommodate project demands, urgent tasks, and support for team members during peak periods or as the needs of the business dictates.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.
