ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual hired for this position will be required to perform both tasks as they will be moved from day to day into different areas of the facility. Other duties may be assigned.

· Grading - Is the inspection of product prior to washing. The basic function is to remove foreign material or product that does not meet B&W standards.

· Packing - Is the inspection and placement of finished bagged product into cases. The basic function is to remove questionable, improperly sealed, or improperly coded bags from the inspection table, packing only product that meets B&W standards.

· Must be able to work long hours and weekends. Shift can be between 8 hrs. and 12 hrs. and when the plant is operating two shifts, shifts are rotated and must be able to work 1st shift or 2nd shift. On occasion the demands may require a double shift which could be up to 16 hrs.

· Must work well in a team environment, promoting a positive atmosphere, teamwork and cooperation.

· Expected to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in a safe manner and according to the standard set by B & W.

QUALIFICATIONS

· EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must be able to count and perform simple math. Previous experience in a packing house as a packer and/or grader is preferred.

· COMMUNICATION SKILL LEVEL – Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and understand basic general and food safety and sanitation standards and guidelines.

· PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS – Previous packing house experience.

· MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Smock, Gloves, Hair/Beard Net, Protective Sleeves, Boxes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to see at a level that allows the individual to detect defects or poor quality in the product as it passes by quickly. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, squat, pull, push and lift up to 25lbs unassisted.
