Job Summary:
The Frac Sand Lab Technician is responsible for testing, analyzing, and verifying the quality of frac sand to ensure it meets industry standards and customer specifications. This role involves hands-on sampling, laboratory testing, data recording, and maintaining equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and prepare frac sand samples from production or shipments.
- Perform routine lab tests such as sieve analysis, turbidity, crush resistance, acid solubility, and bulk density.
- Record and report test results accurately in accordance with standard procedures.
- Ensure lab equipment is calibrated, maintained, and cleaned regularly.
- Identify quality deviations and report non-conforming material to supervisors.
- Follow all safety and environmental protocols while working in the lab and field.
- Assist in maintaining quality assurance documentation and laboratory logs.
- Communicate effectively with plant personnel, operations staff, and management regarding testing outcomes.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a lab or industrial setting is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of lab testing procedures and safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data entry systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, or extended hours as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in dusty or noisy environments.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook Email and Word Document)
- Vehicle and mobile for testing various locations at the site.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
