Duties and Responsibilities:
Become knowledgeable and adhere to Babcock Center’s Policies and Procedures.
Become knowledgeable and adhere to Federal, State, and facility regulations pertaining to the medical/clinical aspects of an ICF.
Reviews and promotes the highest quality of health care for all supported individuals.
Ensures that licensed and other nursing personnel possess the nursing knowledge necessary to perform the functions and duties of their jobs.
Provides direct supervision of all assigned clinical personnel and indirect supervision of auxiliary staff as related to the clinical needs of the facility.
Responsible for interviewing, screening, and recommending clinical staff as needed for the facilities.
Authorizes and coordinates leave time for the clinical staff to ensure adequate coverage.
Functions as a clinical staff and/or Direct Care Support when necessary.
Monitors/evaluates job performance of clinical staff.
Reviews, amends, and approves clinical staff schedules prior to implementation to ensure that adequate staffing is available to meet consumer needs.
Reviews and maintains medical records which may include medications, nurse and clinical notes, health care provider orders, in a concise, complete, and accurate manner.
With the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, evaluates the health care needs of supported persons.
Review medication, clinical documents, and healthcare providers orders monthly for discrepancies or needed changes in clinical care.
With general supervision of Director of Nursing, formulates plan of care for each supported person annually (Habilitation Plan) and ensures each plan is reviewed and revised as necessary.
Participate in pre-admission evaluation of supported persons in terms of the health care services required and the capability of the facility to supply the identified services.
Assist pharmacist in monthly inspections of medical facility.
Cooperate with other employees and management to provide resident services for supported persons.
Ensure that medical supplies and medications are sufficient and current and secured appropriately.
Review monthly weight of each person supported and discuss any dietary concerns with the attending physician and registered dietician.
Assist with and participate in pre-service orientation for new hires.
Provide appropriate documents and accompany supported individuals to Psychotropic Drug Reviews.
Ensure that the necessary reports for admission, hospitalization, and discharge of supported persons are accurate and complete.
Routinely monitors appropriate implementation of diets at meals.
Ensure that appointments for medical, dental, and other services are scheduled appropriately and timely and accompany supported persons as needed.
Represent Babcock Center and the clinical team in a professional and appropriate manner
Maintain approved driving privileges with Babcock Center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Hours:
The Health Care Services Supervisor will typically work 40 hours per week, with flexible hours due to 24-hour facility management.
Typical Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, and reaching. Frequent lifting. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Normal range of hearing and vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to multi-task and deal with stress associated with fast-paced work environment. Formulate decisions and act upon them. Adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas. Communicate with various personalities at all levels. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information.
Working Conditions:
Works residential homes, work activity centers, company facilities, and medical facilities. Travel to other Babcock Center facilities throughout the weekend duty. Due to its independent nature this position requires a high level of responsibility and accountability. Subject to working relationships with all employees of Babcock Center and other program staff.
Supervision:
The direct supervisor for the Health Care Services Supervisor is the Director of Nursing.
Hazards/Potential Hazards:
Aerosolized medication, aggression/violence, biological/infectious hazards, electrical, ergonomic hazards (i.e. patient handling, lifting), pushing/pulling, hazardous drugs, latex allergy, needle punctures, trip hazards and wet floor.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- LPN with a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
- Minimum of1 year of experience in the field of intellectual or related disabilities preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Must meet all other job requirements as outlined by SCDDSN.
