General Responsibilities:
The Work Support Instructor - Inventory Specialist works directly with people with disabilities to support vocational development. This position is specifically responsible for the accurate tracking, organizing, and management of inventory within the organization. This role involves not only managing inventory but also working closely with a diverse team that includes individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs. The WSI - Inventory Specialist will play an essential role in maintaining a supportive and inclusive work environment by providing appropriate guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, ensuring that everyone can contribute to inventory operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily inventory tasks including receiving, counting, labeling, organizing, and distributing materials and products.
- Perform regular inventory checks to ensure stock accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the proper storage of goods, ensuring that items are safely and properly organized.
- Maintain up-to-date records using inventory management software or manual systems as appropriate.
- Collaborate with team members to fulfill inventory requests and prepare items for distribution.
- Work closely with individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs, providing clear instructions and hands-on support in completing inventory tasks.
- Adapt inventory processes as necessary to accommodate the unique needs of individuals, ensuring their comfort and success in their roles.
- Foster an inclusive environment where all team members feel valued, respected, and supported.
- Assist in providing basic training to individuals on inventory procedures, helping them build confidence and skills in their tasks.
- Communicate effectively with the Purchasing Supervisor and other departments regarding stock levels, inventory needs, and any issues that arise.
- Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to coordinate inventory activities and ensure smooth workflow.
- Provide feedback on inventory processes and suggest improvements that support team efficiency, especially for individuals with disabilities.
- Suggest and implement methods for improving the accessibility and efficiency of inventory management tasks for individuals with special needs.
- Utilize tools, visual aids, and assistive devices to make inventory tasks more manageable and accessible for the team.
- Continuously look for ways to improve inventory procedures to better support team members with intellectual disabilities.
- Ensure all inventory operations comply with company policies and safety regulations.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, providing guidance on safe handling and storage of materials.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of inventory activities for audit and compliance purposes.
- Establish goals and objectives for the Inventory Programming Training. Monitoring and evaluating progress on those goals and objectives and/or revision of such procedures when necessary.
- Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of Personal Outcomes Measures (as defined by The Council on Quality and Leadership) as they relate to vocational/daytime endeavors.
- Focuses on learning the vocational desires, goals and needs of each person served.
- Comply with internal procedures and all agency, state, and federal requirements.
- Ensure adherence to Behavior Support Plans as related to Day Programs.
- Provide oversight of medical aspects of care as it relates to Day Program.
- Ensures that thorough and accurate records are kept as required for internal documentation in addition to ensuring that all documentation required by various entities (i.e., DOL,) is completed accurately with required supports in place.
- Represent the company in professional and community activities, i.e. coordination of services with outside agencies.
- Abide by company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, or related fields, preferred.
- Basic computer skills required, familiarity in using inventory management software preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and adapt communication for individuals with intellectual disabilities or special needs.
- Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or special needs in a work setting.
- Familiarity with assistive tools or techniques that aid in working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with team members with different abilities.
- Knowledge of state, local and federal regulations governing licensing and operations of agency facilities preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of growth and developmental processes for persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license and approved driving privileges within the agency.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Hazards/Potential Hazards:
Cleaning chemicals, ergonomic hazards: (i.e. static posture, repetitive motions), trip hazards such as file drawers, electrical wires, and video display terminals.
