The Project Controller position works directly with the Project Manager to help support the project’s goals and objectives; maintain project budgets, analyze progress reported against budgets, and implement actions to mitigate risk. Monitor and analyze the financial plan on assigned contracts in a consistent manner to ensure that the Project Team and Management are informed at all times of the status and issues that arise which can positively or negatively impact the specific Projects contribution to the overall Corporate Revenue and Margin plans.

Under the direction of the Department supervisor, and in compliance with the processes and procedures established by the business unit, prepares project financial reports and analysis. Requires the ability to execute / revise plans to attain well defined goals, and a high degree of concentration to monitor progress and put in place recovery plans when productivity falls below target. Communicating information accurately and timely between departments.

Responsibilities

Work with the Project Team to ensure changes to the work scope are identified and documented as they occur throughout the Project’s execution. Requires advanced knowledge of Excel to create project specific worksheets for analysis of trends, problems, and forecasts d for safe, reliable, clean energy. Essential Responsibilities:

• Work with Project Manager to evaluate cost trends and Estimate-At-Complete analysis.
• Track project financial budgets and offer strategies and recovery plans to minimize variance.
• Project Cash Flow Forecasting
• Work with available accounting and project management software tools (ex. Deltek Costpoint, Excel, PowerBI) to track actual costs, including labor hours, materials, etc.
• Responsible for determining and reviewing with the Project Manager any events or issues that arise that can affect Project Cost, Revenue, and Gross Profit.
• Provide monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports to accounting and manager of financial reporting.
• Execute Project Cost Control Procedure.
• Present financial performance to business unit management.
• Take an active role in recommending and implementing process improvements and new strategies.
• Review Purchase orders and invoices for accuracy and adherence to contract documents.
• Perform special projects as needed.
  
  

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred)
• Advanced systems skills (particularly Excel) are essential. (PowerBI and Costpoint experience preferred)
• Self-Motivator, Strong work ethic, team player, dedicated, reliable.
• Organized and detail oriented with an ability to work independently.
• Must be accurate and efficient with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize, coordinate multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with upper management
