COMPENSATION
This is an hourly, paid student employment position for the Fall and Spring semesters. On average, FME Auditing & Accounting Mentors will work 6-10 hours per week.
SUPERVISION
For training, support, and guidance in completing the position responsibilities, FME Auditing & Accounting Mentors report to Undergraduate Experiential Learning & Academic Excellence.
POSITION SUMMARY
FME Auditing & Accounting Mentors are assigned to FME sections and serve as a resource for accounting-related FME questions. FME Auditing & Accounting Mentors will also assist with FME Business & Banking Hours in the Undergraduate Experiential Learning & Academic Excellence office by collecting cash and check deposits and answering venture finance questions.
The mentors will work set hours with Undergraduate Experiential Learning each week during the Spring semester and meet the FME teams in their sections. FME Auditing & Accounting Mentors work with FME ventures to review inventory tracking systems, examine financial records, and answer questions about accounting and sales tax. They also help FME ventures complete monthly sales tax reports and a final audit at the end of the FME course. Mentors will also assist ventures in preparing and closing their financials during Close of Business in early April.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Remain in good standing with the College through the selection, training, and contract periods
- Exemplify professionalism in the classroom and role model student behavior in both conduct and communication
- Have timely communication with Undergraduate Experiential Learning team, FME Faculty, and students
- Attend and be engaged for trainings and meetings pertaining to the FME Auditing & Accounting Mentor position
- Establish relationships with Undergraduate Experiential Learning staff, FME Mentors, and FME students
- Assist with FME Banking & Business hours by collecting deposits and answering venture financial questions
- Meet with ventures for a bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) check-in after the Launch period
- Collaborate with FME Mentors as needed to ensure students are comfortable with their deliverables
- Keep professional intrapersonal relationships and not be romantically involved with any students in assigned section
- Maintain confidentiality with information (students, faculty, and staff)
POSITION KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must have cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher at time of applying and throughout employment
- Successful completion of the FME course, Intro to Accounting, and/or Intro to Finance courses
- Basic knowledge in Excel or other spreadsheet platforms
- Familiarity with FME course tools including but not limited to: Canvas, Qualtrics, Undergraduate Experiential Learning resources and processes
- Ability to provide appropriate guidance to their peers through active listening and open-ended questioning
- Ability to direct students to different campus services as needed (Math, Writing and Speech Resource Centers, Peer Tutoring, Health Services, CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services), etc.)
