Senior Cloud Engineer (Time-Limited)

This is a temporary position scheduled to last 3 months with the possibility of extending.

The Senior Cloud Engineer works as an integral part of the Systems Team, playing a lead technical role in support of the migration of on premises workloads into the Azure Cloud as well as operational support for Azure cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This position reports to the Director of System and Cloud and will be a member of the Systems Team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical lead for the design, development, deployment and migration to Azure cloud services, including but not limited to appropriate monitoring and alerting, scaling, backups, disaster recovery, patching, automation, and validating and implementing network and security frameworks.
• Administration and operational support of hybrid Azure and on-premises environment. Troubleshoot access and identity issues as necessary.
• Perform root cause analysis. Identify and propose automated solutions for frequently occurring issues.
• Participate as technical lead in the development, implementation and support of the identity management solution.
• Review and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
• Provide technical leadership in projects and other initiatives impacting the Systems, Networks, and Telecom team when needed.
• Act as a technical mentor to other members of the team to help guide the overall technical development of the team.
• Collaborate with the Director of Systems and other key members of the IT Team on budgets, roadmaps, and other aspects of the annual cycle.
• Ensure solutions are properly documented for both existing and new services.

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 5 to 8 years of hands-on system infrastructure support, operations, design and implementation experience, as well as network and security practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Azure PaaS, and IaaS and/or other public cloud experience including networking and security related to Azure Cloud.
• Advanced PowerShell or equivalent scripting skills in support of operational needs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; must work well in team environment.
• Strong partnership and collaboration skills; able to develop and maintain effective relationships with peers, management, customers, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience preparing technical documentation.
• Experience with automated deployment pipelines.

Strongly desired:

• Azure Certifications including Azure AD and O365.
• Experience with authentication technologies such as SAML, OAuth, SSO technologies and Azure Active Directory.
• Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (Release Management).
• Docker, Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems.
• Knowledge of ITIL & ITSM frameworks and Change Management.

Working Conditions:

• May require some evening/weekend work.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Hybrid work may vary based on business needs.

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:

• Higher Ed experience preferred
• Experience in leading a cloud transition effort from planning, through execution and support preferred
• Familiarity with database technology and authentication services a plus
