What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cheese Shop Manager position at Babylon Cheese Cellar?
The Babylon Cheese Cellar is currently looking for a full-time manager for our artisanal cheese shop, located in Babylon, NY. The ideal candidate is passionate about cheese and all things food. They must be self-motivated, extremely organized, and professional with customer service experience. Applicants must possess the ability to provide elevated customer service while managing staff and day-to-day operations of the shop. The role also requires cooking and production of prepared foods from grilled cheese to other gourmet items.
Prior cheese knowledge not required, but a huge plus! Must have some food experience and willing to work majority of weekends.
Basic responsibilities:
* Oversee staff of 3-5 employees. Communicate information from owners to staff and ensure objectives are being met.
* Provide excellent customer service at all times, exceeding expectations consistently.
* Cut and wrap cheese and charcuterie to order. Take initiative to research and learn about the cheeses and educate staff/customers when selling.
* Manage inventory and oversee merchandising of store displays
* Will be trained in our style of platter execution and required to create platters
* Maintain food safety and sanitation standards. Hold staff accountable to these practices.
* Effectively clean and merchandise cheese each day. Ensure staff is maintaining standards at all times.
* Meet sales goals for month. Strategize with owners on ways to drive business and elevate the selling skills of staff.
* Plan for and create events to promote business.
Requirements:
* Ability to work on your feet for several hours, walk up and down stairs while carrying platters and wheels of cheese, and lift up to 30 lbs unassisted. Able to climb 3-7' ladders when necessary.
* Available to work MOST if not ALL weekends (those are our most important business driving days), evenings, and holidays
* A positive attitude and desire to learn, as well as teach others!
* Manage and train staff on cheese product knowledge, store standards, and other procedures
* Think creatively and assist in projects to grow the business
* Absolutely must be a creative thinker and open to new ideas, concepts, and growing with our company! This position reports to owners.
