What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Specialist - Hard Goods position at Backcountry?
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Buyer to join our Hard Goods team. As an Associate Buyer, you'll play a critical role in driving sales growth and improving profitability in our Hard Goods Camp business.
About the Role:
This is a hybrid role that involves working from our headquarters in Park City, UT for 3 days a week. As an Associate Buyer, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills in assortment planning, vendor management, and inventory control.
Responsibilities:
- Assortment Selection: You'll be responsible for selecting the right products to meet customer demand, including pricing, category/brand mix, and seasonal selection.
- Vendor Management and Negotiations: You'll work closely with vendors to negotiate discounts, terms, and pricing policies.
- PO Management: You'll manage purchase orders, including creating POs, ensuring timely submission to vendors, and handling edits and past due invoices.
- Promotions: You'll work with Marketing to brainstorm and execute promotional concepts, including setting up promotional cadences and managing SKU links.
- Pricing: You'll work with the Planner to set preseason pricing strategies, manage in-season pricing, and communicate price breaks to the Marketing team.
- Inventory Management: You'll work with the Planner to establish preseason PO receipt flows, inventory allocation, and sell-through targets.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of relevant Industry Merchandising and Buying experience
- Expertise in outdoor brands and merchandising preferred
- Experience with Camping, Fishing, and Water Sports Merchandise preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed
- Solid foundation of Retail Math and Buying Fundamentals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Oustanding time management skills
