Payroll/HR Assistant

Job Overview
Backlund Investment Co, holding company for Better Banks in Peoria, IL, and State Street Bank, in Quincy, IL, is seeking an HR Assistant to assist with the administration and coordination of daily HR functions; including payroll, recruitment & onboarding, benefits, & employee relations for approximately 185 employees.

Duties

• Processes employee payroll utilizing a payroll platform, such as Paylocity
• Fosters positive employee relations by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to payroll, time & attendance, & HR
• Posts job openings, screens applicants, coordinates interviews, assists in the selection process
• Prepares necessary documentation for new hires, administers & monitors new hire onboarding process, & conducts orientations
• Establishes & maintains employee records and ensures data entry accuracy for HR databases
• Provides administrative support through the coordination, implementation, and management of employee benefits
• Collaborates & assists the HR team in enhancing team structure and efficiency
• Stays abreast of HR trends, legislation, & demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness to changes in employment trends

Skills

• Strong understanding of payroll & human resources principles and practices
• Proficiency in HRMS with strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective employee relations and communication
• Payroll certification is desirable

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
