What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pond Technician position at Backyard Ponds, LLC?
We have an opening for an entry level pond technician to start in early-mid March. Previous pond experience would be nice, but is not required. We prefer hardscaping or landscaping experience, but anyone with a good attitude and who takes pride in their work is welcome. All ages/races/sexes encouraged to apply.
This job would primarily be for cleaning small man-made ponds in the spring, but would include pond installations and other kinds of pond work the rest of the year, other than when it's freezing. You would meet at the warehouse in Rockville, MD at 7AM and go out with a partner to clean ponds at homes and businesses around Maryland, DC, and Virginia. The ponds need to be drained, scrubbed, and vacuumed. The fish, frogs, and snails need to be moved to and from a holding tank. The aquatic plants need to be trimmed, divided, and re-potted as necessary. The pond debris would be put into a compost pile or bagged and loaded into the work truck. You would clean and repair stonework, pumps, filters, lighting, and other pond equipment. You would be outside most of the day, and you would get wet, muddy, and sweaty.
