- The Hydrovac Operator reports to the project manager/ foreman
- The Foreman supervises the Hydrovac Operator and crew
- REQUIREMENTS
- Education
- Required: GED
- Preferred: High school/college
- Licensing, Registration and Certifications
- Required: osha 10 hour
- Preferred: osha 30 hour
- Experience
- Required: 5 years
- Preferred: 10 years
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements for operating a hydrovac truck
- Previous experience operating hydrovac equipment is preferred but not always required, as some employers offer on-the-job training
- Knowledge of excavation and utility locating techniques
- Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- A strong commitment to safety and following established safety protocols
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Climate: This is an outdoor working condition
- Travel: day travel may be required
- Hours: Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Safety: Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure that all crew members follow safety procedures
- Site Preparation: Prepare the work site by setting up traffic control measures, safety barriers, and other necessary precautions
- Excavation: Use high-pressure water to break up soil and debris and a vacuum system to remove the material from the excavation site carefully
- Utility Location: Safely and accurately locate underground utilities and other buried structures before excavation to avoid damage
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including site documentation, project reports, and equipment maintenance logs
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on hydrovac trucks and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with crew members, supervisors, and project managers to ensure the successful completion of excavation projects
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing excavation and safety standards
