Shipping and Receiving Associate

SUMMARY

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by loading, unloading, and moving materials within the plant facility by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Pulls orders to ship; compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Monitors the daily driver in/out log to ensure drivers are signing in and out

Prints and verifies all export documents for outbound shipments

Verifies incoming quantities on all parts delivered to BAE

Maintains FIFO inventory methodology when pulling orders for shipment

Notifies Production Department Line Leader and/or Production Supervisor with any non-conforming material issues found during incoming inspection(s).

Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.

Inserts items into containers.

Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments.

Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck (pallet jack) to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers.

Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.

Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.

Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.

Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.

Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.

Loads truck for Industrial Truck Operator.

Removes samples of materials, labels with identifying information, and takes samples to laboratory for analysis.

Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.

Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Wraps orders for Lear-Silao and locks the load with an airbag after the shipment has been loaded on the truck

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
