​​​​​BAE Systems is looking for an internship with the Safety, Health and Environmental Department. This is a summer position that has a typical timeframe of June – August. Internships and Co-ops may be shortened or extended at the discretion of the company. This role is located in San Jose, CA. As an integral member of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) team, you will support not only our site in San Jose, CA, but also associated remote locations. Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided.

You will be working on key projects, gaining hands on experience in workplace safety, environmental compliance and risk mitigation. This internship offers an opportunity to develop essential skills in safety management while actively contributing to a safer more sustainable work environment. The role involves collaborating with our engineering functions to identify, assess, and control workplace hazards, while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

As a Safety, Health and Environmental Intern, you will:

• Conduct Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) for various tasks and processes to identify potential safety and environmental hazards in lab, shop and field environments.
• Collaborate with SHE, Facilities, and engineering teams to develop and implement effective safety controls.
• Support SHE initiatives and projects aimed at improving workplace safety and compliance.
• Maintain and organize SHE records using internal SHE Management Systems.
• Conduct routine SHE inspections under supervision of SHE and/or trained individuals.
• Follow up on employee SHE concerns and participate in incident investigations.
• Assist with industrial hygiene sampling and/or data collection

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Skills and Education

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program pursuing Safety, Health, and Environmental curriculum or related field at an accredited college/university
• Ability to work independently and effectively with employees at all levels across the business
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $50182 - $67733

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
