The selected candidate will provide technical support for the AN/SPN-46(V) Precision Approach and Landing System (PALS). Responsibilities will include maintenance and troubleshooting, bench test support, fleet support, operational testing of new and overhauled system units.
The selected candidate will support the SPN-46(V) Fleet Support Team with responsibilities that will include:
Field repair of electro mechanical equipment assemblies and subassemblies
Overhaul of electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies
Bench testing and repair of equipment assemblies and subassemblies
Assist with resolving parts obsolescence issues
Assist with development of bench test plans and procedures
Support Environmental testing
Recording of test data
Update existing drawings and test procedures
Tracking of repair lab tools, test equipment and material
Will also perform fleet support duties to include troubleshooting, maintenance, assist with turn key lab equipment installation and checkout, cable fabrication, fiber-optic cable fabrication, disassembly and reassembly of electro mechanical equipment in support of overhauls, and other fleet support related duties related to requirements of U.S Navy Air Traffic Control approach and landing systems on board US Navy ships. The position could require travel up to 10% worldwide in support of US Navy vessels.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $22.92 (Tech 1) / $25.72 (Tech II). Leveling will be determined at the time of interview.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Skills and Education
High School diploma and at least 1 year of related experience (formal or military electronics training and/or additional years of experience may be considered for level II position)
Experience with testing and troubleshooting electronic systems
Ability to obtain a passport
Ability to move or lift objects weighing up to 50lbs
Ability to work onboard US Navy Ships, to include extensive walking up and down multiple flights of stairs

Preferred Skills and Education
Military electronics training (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard) in AN/SPN-, ASR-, SPS-, TPN-, TPS- or FPN- equipment
Experience with power/hand tools.
Electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience including the use of various types of test equipment including micrometers/calipers
