Job Description
In the Supply Chain Support function, the Weld Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Act as a technical welding resource to support all BAE Systems Weld Suppliers and Supply Chain functions within BAE Systems
- Manage the BAE Systems Weld Supplier Procedure Submittal Process and associated Contract Deliverable Requirements, Supplier Flow-Down requirements, and subsequent processes
- Develop and deliver communications to BAE Systems Weld Suppliers regarding major and minor changes that impact Supplier operations and/or deliverables
- Facilitate Quarterly Supplier Communication Meetings to communicate pertinent welding information to BAE Systems Suppliers
- Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to address Supplier deficiencies, focusing on remediation while limiting the impact to production
- Support BAE Systems Supplier activities such as onboarding, capacity/capability assessments, onsite visits, and technical reviews as a Subject Matter Expert
- Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to develop and maintain a BAE Systems Weld Supplier List based upon Supplier capabilities and capacity
- Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing BAE Systems Weld Suppliers
- Develop and facilitate Supplier Welding Training for all BAE Systems Weld Suppliers on a routine cadence
- Maintain all Weld Supplier Trainings in accordance with the applicable Weld Codes, Weld Procedures, Specifications, and Contract requirements
- Develop Statements of Work for Outside Service Provider (OSP) of fabricated components
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience in reviewing and assessing Weld Specifications and Contractual Documentation
- Experience working to AWS Welding Standards, ASME, DoD, and/or similar standards
- Proficiency in typical computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation skills, technical writing, decision making, technical problem-solving skills, and working independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to develop and maintain relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate outside of functional boundaries
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
· Certification and experience working as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (or equivalent)
· Experience developing and/or executing process and documentation audits
· Process / Product validation experience using formal methodologies
· Experience in root cause analysis & corrective/preventive action
· Experience in writing Contract Requirements or equivalent
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $86460 - $146982
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
