Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care while providing exceptional service to pet owners.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and play areas by performing regular cleaning tasks.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management or veterinary staff.
- Help with dog handling during playtime and training sessions.
- Support pet grooming activities as needed, ensuring pets are clean and comfortable.
- Engage with pet owners, providing updates on their pets’ well-being and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Assist with heavy lifting when moving animals or supplies as necessary.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal care, such as working in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or pet sitting service is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with dog training techniques or veterinary technician skills is a plus.
- Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments safely.
- Experience with heavy lifting is beneficial for moving supplies and equipment.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
