What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at Bailey Bark Materials?

We are now accepting applications for an Equipment Operator.
This is a full-time position and the candidate must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Operates equipment such as front-end loaders, fork lifts, skid steers, water trucks, etc. for a variety of operations.
- Operates equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading and unloading of various materials and supplies.
- Breaks out and loads asphalt, dirt, rock, and other materials onto large dump trucks or trailers.
- Operates equipment and vehicles in a safe, responsible manner in accordance with Louisiana State Traffic Laws and test requirements.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
- Relates well with employees and customers at all levels and at all times in a professional and personable manner.
- Performs heavy manual tasks under varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions.
- Drives and operates a variety of equipment under varying and sometime extreme weather conditions.
Work Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.*
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Knowledge in operating equipment.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to operate equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment.
- Landscape knowledge a plus

- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- May require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
