Description

The Dock & Door Service Technician/Estimator is responsible for installation, service, repair, troubleshooting, and inspecting commercial/industrial overhead doors, loading docks, dock leveling systems, and other warehouse equipment. In addition, this role will collaborate with sales and service team members to develop estimates for dock and door work for customer review and approval.  This is a customer facing role that may also require regional travel.   


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Represent Bailey as the primary point of contact for all commercial Dock & Door customers within a service area. 
  2. Develop estimates in collaboration with members of the sales or service team for presentation to and approval by customers for dock and door installation, repair, service, parts, etc. 
  3. Install, service, and repair commercial/industrial doors, door opening systems, loading/warehouse docks, and dock leveling systems. 
  4. Perform preventative maintenance on Bailey equipment and systems at customer sites.   
  5. Assist with project management and coordination.  
  6. Troubleshoot dock and door equipment, mechanisms, mechanical systems, and electrical circuits. 
  7. Ensure quality through checking for proper installation, balance, and clearance. 
  8. Proactively address customer needs and expand Bailey business through prompt, friendly, and safe service. 
  9. Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.?

Requirements

The individual in this position should be personable, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, intelligent, and able to adapt to the forces around them—customers, suppliers, co-workers, and other vendors.   


Education/Training/Experience:

  • A technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs. 
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in industrial maintenance, preferably with servicing warehouse equipment, commercial overhead doors, and/or loading dock equipment. 
  • Experience in welding, steel fabrication, and electrical.  
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience developing quotes/estimates.  
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a customer facing/customer service role. 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical skills? 
  • Great communication skills? 
  • Good, safe work habits? 
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills? 
  • Able to work with minimal or no supervision in the field  

License(s) or Certification(s) Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License 

Personal Protective Equipment Required:  

  • Steel toed, non-slip, work boots?(annual reimbursement provided by Bailey) 
  • Leather gloves, rubber gloves?(provided by Bailey) 
  • Safety glasses?(provided by Bailey) 
  • Hearing protection?(provided by Bailey) 
  • Safety vest (provided by Bailey)
